Spring

Behold, my friends, the spring is come; the earth has gladly received the embraces of the sun, and we shall soon see the results of their love! — Sitting Bull

The headlands along the coast are a cross between prairie and desert in this part of Northern Coastal California. The dry salt air and powerful north winds ensure only the hardiest plants survive. Those that do make it are generally low to the ground and don’t waste energy with copious blooms.

Looking out over the headlands this morning, it was Spring. Everything was green and in bloom. A few ‘morning shift’ bees were working hard and adding their buzz to the sound track. Beautiful. Peaceful.

The landscape looked like a tapestry. The varieties of pink, yellow and white flowers leaned towards the rising sun. In the distance fog hovered over the ocean, hiding the surf, but not its sound. I’m so grateful to live where I do.
