…a National Monument.

Travel is a great joy for me. As long as I’m going, I’m happy, but I’m the happiest when I turn off Hwy 101 and head west. There’s a certain point along the road when you begin to feel the coastal influence. The moist air is cooler. Just before you make the turn that gives the first view of the Pacific, you smell the sea and taste salt in the air.
I love the Mendocino coast. It’s wild, remote, and protected. Our entire coastline is part of the California Coastal National Monument. An addition of 1,665-acres in the Point Arena area called Stornetta Lands is one of our dearest treasures.
